      Kai Kemp Butler graduated from Borger High School in 2014. She then moved to Dallas to start school at the University of North Texas.  She finished all four years there and graduated in May of 2018 with her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She graduated cum laude with national honors. While she was going to school full-time she worked part-time as a bank teller for Advancial Federal Credit Union. Once she graduated college she moved up as a loan officer for the same credit union. Since June of 2019, she has worked as an accountant at the corporate office in downtown Dallas for the same credit union.  She plans to learn even more and stay in the accounting field. She said that BHS prepared her for everything! She wants to expand her career and keep moving up as high as she can. In Fall 2021 she plans on going back to North Texas to obtain her master’s degree to open even more doors. She is married to Dontrae Butler, another 2014 Borger High School graduate.  Dontrae played football, basketball and track all through high school.  Upon graduation, he played football at Moorpark University in California.  He returned to Borger to earn his I & E certificate from Frank Phillips College.  Dontrae is currently working as a traveling electrician.  Kai and Dontrae have a one-year-old son named Ah’Lee and will welcome another baby into the family in July.  BorgerISD and Borger High School wish to congratulate both Kai and Dontrae on their hard work and wish them continued success in their future endeavors! Hard work pays off!

Dontae Chambers is a 2016 graduate of Borger High School.  In high school, Dontae was a varsity letterman in football, basketball, and track. He participated in these all four years.  Dontae earned 15 hours of college credit in high school which helped him get a jump start on his college career at McMurry University in Abilene.  Dontae ran track for McMurry for two years before deciding to concentrate on his academics full-time.  This May he will be graduating with a major in Biomedical Science.  He is currently awaiting his acceptance letter to chiropractic school.    Dontae was elected Student Body President this year at McMurry.  His two big initiatives have been eliminating smoking on campus and voter awareness.  Borger ISD and Borger High School wish to congratulate President Chambers on his hard work and wish him continued success in his future endeavors.

      Alumni Spotlight:  Claire Huffine Hillyer is a 2016 graduate of Borger High School.  She graduated from Borger High School with 21 hours of college credit having competed in tennis all four years of high school.  As a ninth-grader, she had never played tennis.  However, with lots of practice, grit and determination, she ended up going to state her junior and senior years.  Claire was able to use her high school success to sign a tennis scholarship to McMurry University in Abilene where she has continued to be successful.  She was named Freshman of the Year her first year at McMurry by earning 23 wins and winning her way into the National Tournament.  She is currently the number one player on the team and recently earned the women’s player of the week award in the American Southwest Conference for her success so far this season.  Claire will graduate in May with a major in graphic design.  She is in the honor’s program at McMurry and has been on the Dean’s List every semester.  She is married to 2016 Borger High School graduate Sam Hillyer who is also an athlete at McMurry.  Sam plays baseball and had a distinguished athletic career in baseball at both Borger High School and Frank Phillips College.  Borger ISD and Borger High School wish to congratulate both Claire and Sam on their hard work and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.  #BorgerISD #hardworkpaysoff  https://mcmurrysports.com/news/2020/2/18/womens-tennis-hillyer-earns-first-career-player-of-the-week-award.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3RR5cR-2-5OBkj3N0WJlrT4SaKR8Z2ChkotqYDLTtThJDonGkfv8kbsa0

Samantha Huckabee graduated in 2014 from Borger High School.  She was ranked in the Top Ten of her class and finished with 25 college credit hours.  Samantha went on to graduate cum laude from Texas A&M University in College Station with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health.  She is currently finishing her last semester at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas where she will earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.  Samantha was named to the Presidential Honor Roll for the summer 2019 and fall 2019 semesters.  She is a member of the National Nurses Association, the Baylor Student Nurses Association, and the Emergency Nurses Association.  She was recently hired as an ER nurse at UT Southwestern, the #1 hospital in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and the #2 hospital in Texas.  Samantha will start her career in July 2020.  BISD and Borger High School wishes to congratulate Samantha Huckabee on her hard work and wish her continued success in her new career!
